Our Work

IJP serves as a hub for lawyers, students, and community members committed to reimagining the democratic promise of the American jury. Current and future projects include:

  • Researching the diversity and inclusivity of North Carolina jury pools;
  • Producing expert reports and amicus briefs on patterns of discrimination;
  • Creating equity-centered model jury policies for judges and lawyers;
  • Advising and developing litigation tools to challenge jury discrimination;
  • Organizing advocates committed to racial equity in jury formation;
  • Proposing and studying reforms aimed at ending juror discrimination;
  • Teaching jury education programs for students, lawyers, and judges;
  • Proposing structural reforms to statutory frameworks governing jury formation;
  • Engaging in scholarship addressing relevant legal doctrines.
